The Sun Will Rise - Fingerpicking Guitar and Vocal - By Dan D Dirges

I used a couple different simple folk fingerpicking patterns for this song. The first ones we all learned from the Hal Leonard and Mel Bay guitar lesson books. I used to play this song using the Travis alternating picking pattern but I think I like this style better for this particular song. It keeps the tempo flowing a little better.

The Sun Will Rise
Written and performed by
Dan D. Dirges
Folk style fingerpicking guitar and vocal
Written circa 2007 or 2008 (This is a new recording though)

when a whip-poor-will sings her lullaby
it means someone`s bound to die
heaven see`s when you weep
through an eternal overhanging eye

oh the sun will rise
cast light upon the road, where the dead
will begin their journey home
and the wind will sound
a very different tune
where seeds of faith were sown
and they will grow.

winter descends upon the earth
a holy man screams but he cant be heard
leave all things behind
frozen in time
there`s beauty in birth
there`s beauty in dying

oh the sun will rise
cast light upon the road, where the dead
will begin their journey home
and the tide will tell
a very different tale
where seeds of hope were sown
and they will grow

war dead have washed up along the shore
these soldiers of love have won the war
hatred has drowned out in the sea
forgiveness now reigns for all eternity

oh the sun will rise
cast light upon the road, where the dead
will begin their journey home
and a beacon will shine
from a top the lighthouse tower
where seeds of love were sown
and they will grow
