This dog met its mysterious end, stuck in a tree for almost 60 years. But what really happened? In the 1960s, in the woods of Georgia, a hunting dog chased its wily prey into a chestnut tree. The nimble animal lured the dog deeper and deeper inside. The dog climbed about 8 meters until the trunk narrowed, trapping him too high to escape. Despite a search, the dog was never found and died inside the tree. Surprisingly, his body did not decompose, but instead dried up, mummifying due to the unique conditions inside the chestnut tree. Was it just an accident or some mysterious force of nature? In the 1980s, loggers accidentally came across a mummy and donated it to the museum.
