Chutkan jumpstarts Trump Jan. 6 case, signaling aggressive pace

Former President Donald Trump’s federal election interference case was reassigned to Judge Tanya Chutkan, who quickly took several actions to advance the case.

Within 48 hours, Chutkan denied two of Trump’s dismissal requests, set deadlines for a joint report, scheduled a mid-August hearing, and paused two existing deadlines.

Critics argue she is rushing the case, with legal expert Josh Blackman noting such cases usually proceed more slowly, the Washington Examiner has reported.
