The Titanic's wreck is relatively intact because air was released from within the ship before it sank, equalizing the pressure inside and outside and preventing implosion. Implosions occur when there is a difference in pressure between the inside and outside of an object, such as when the force of water pressure on a submersible's surface is greater than the hull can withstand.
