On August 4, 2024, K9 Igo and his Thurston County Sheriff deputy partner attempted to stop a street bike in north Lacey, Thurston County, Washington, for passing in a no pass zone. The street bike also had a plate that came back to a boat trailer on it. The rider fled the traffic stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit entered Interstate 5 heading south bound, where the rider reached speeds of 130mph. Thurston County Sheriff Sanders picked up the pursuit at exit 109 and pursued the bike onto Pacific Avenue. The rider then exited the roadway down a grass hill into the back entrance of a trailer park where Sheriff Sanders found the bike unoccupied a short time later.
Deputies and Olympia Police set up a perimeter while K9 Igo tracked the suspect to a trailer, where he was located and arrested. The suspect had an active Department of Correction felony escape warrant for assault 2nd degree with a deadly weapon and was in the possession of suspected narcotics. He was booked into Thurston County Jail for attempting to elude, driving while license suspended, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, and his warrant. The bike was impounded.
