Dozens killed in escalating violence in Bangladesh as protesters renew calls for PM to resign

At least 97 people were killed in Sunday's clashes between government supporters and those who want prime minister Sheikh Hasina to step down. Students are marching on the capital Dhaka to demand justice for the 300 people killed since last month.

Right now, an indefinite curfew is in place, the internet has been cut off, offices are closed and factories are shut.

The UN's human rights chief says that the shocking level of violence must end, as well as the use of excessive force against peaceful protestors and the spread of misinformation.
