St. Louis Police Bodycam Footage From CVPA School Shooting in 2022

St. Louis, Missouri — On October 24, 2022 at approximately 9:10 a.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting an active shooter situation at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School. Units were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival at 9:16 a.m., officers observed students and staff evacuating the building. Multiple gunshots were heard from within the school. Officers proceeded to enter the building and systematically clear each room while assisting with the evacuation.

At approximately 9:22 a.m., officers located the shooter, 19-year-old Orlando Harris, in the second-floor hallway near the gymnasium. Harris was armed with a rifle and engaged officers in a firefight. Officers returned fire, and Harris was neutralized at 9:24 a.m.. Harris graduated in 2021 and had no prior criminal record. Two victims were fatally shot during the incident. Alexandria Bell, a 15-year-old sophomore, and Jean Kuczka, a 61-year-old health and physical education teacher, tragically lost their lives. Several other students sustained injuries of varying degrees and were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment.
