The United States and Israel are gearing up for a potential retaliatory strike by Iran following the assassinations of key Hamas and Hezbollah leaders, according to a report from Axios. The attack is expected to occur on Monday.

U.S. Central Command's General Michael Kurilla has reportedly arrived in the region to help coordinate a broad international and regional coalition, similar to the one that defended Israel from an Iranian attack in April. This comes as tensions in the Middle East escalate after Iran accused Israel of killing Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and admitted to eliminating Hezbollah leader Fouad Shukr in Beirut.

In anticipation of Iran's promised retaliation, Israel has placed its military on high alert, and the U.S. has bolstered its presence in the region. Axios sources suggest that the Iranian response could mirror their previous attack in April, involving drones and missiles, though this time it may be more extensive and could include Hezbollah forces from Lebanon.

The Biden administration is reportedly concerned about the difficulty of rallying a coalition to defend against an Iranian attack, given the ongoing Hamas-Israel war and the international criticism Israel has faced for its actions in Gaza.
