Travel to and from Sicily is disrupted due to a volcanic eruption from Mount Etna. Catania International Airport has delayed, cancelled, and diverted some flights because of smoke affecting visibility.

Nearby towns are covered in volcanic ash. Passengers should check airline apps, websites, and social media for updates, and monitor their email for any changes to their flights.

Some flights are being rerouted to other airports in Sicily, like Palermo and Comiso.

No official numbers have been released, but the airport’s departure boards show delays of up to three hours.

Five domestic departures and two international flights to Warsaw and Copenhagen have been cancelled.

Some flights are being diverted to other airports in Sicily, Euro News has reported.
