Lake Mead Triassics of the Grand Staircase (Chinle Formation)

Down the Grand Staircase Permian, Triassic, Jurassic sedimentary layers to the Miocene basalts... somewhere around Barstow...and not in a government park having video restrictions. I think this Colorado Plateau block is an exotic moved along the Las Vegas Shear Zone from Arizona 12 million years ago just before the nearby rifting along todays Colorado River 10 million years ago. We explore the Chinle with an eye out for its notorious petrified wood.
