Is There a Single "Last Universal Common Ancestor" (LUCA) for All Living Things?

The Popular Science headline proclaimed that all life on earth had a single universial common ancestor, and it was very old. But do the results of the study support the claimed conclusion in the study, and the headlines surrounding it? Why the farther back these dates go the less likely it is that all life had a last universal common ancestor.
