The Ukrainian Defense Forces have struck Russian submarine B-237 "Rostov-on-Don” carrying Kalibr missile in Crimea’s port city of Sevastopol, General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces stated on Saturday. As a result of the strike, the boat sank. The submarine belongs to the Russian Black Sea Fleet in Crimea and is worth around $300 million. In a statement posted on Facebook, the General Staff stated that Ukrainian forces also attacked an S-400 anti-aircraft missile system in Crimea. The General Staff stated that units of the missile forces, in cooperation with units of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, significantly damaged 4 launchers of the Triumph air defense system. It should be noted that Submarine B-237 "Rostov-on-Don” is considered to be one of four submarines of the "Kilo" class, capable of using missiles "Kalibr". Commissioned on December 26, 2014, "Rostov-on-Don" was seriously damaged as a result of a Ukrainian missile attack on September 13, 2023. It was later repaired and tested in the water area of the Sevastopol harbor. “The destruction of "Rostov-on-Don" once again proves that there is no safe place for the Russian fleet in the Ukrainian territorial waters of the Black Sea,” the General Staff highlighted in its statement.
