UK protests: Violent disorder breaks out across the country

Police are out in force in many cities in the UK as protests and counter demonstrations have taken place today in the wake of the attack in Southport in which three little girls died.

Police in Hull say three police officers have been injured and four people were arrested after a group of people attacked a hotel which houses asylum seekers.

Crowds also gathered in cities including Nottingham, Belfast, Manchester and Liverpool where police say there has been serious disorder.
