-
Units and formations of the Russian Navy participating in planned exercises in the operational zones of Northern, Pacific, and Baltic fleets as well as in the area of responsibility of the Caspian Flotilla, have begun to scale down their forces. In the near future, crews of ships that were carrying out training and combat missions as intended will return to their permanent home stations.
-
'According to the available results of the tasks set for the forces of the fleet, I believe the purpose of the drills has been achieved.
-
The Russian Naval General Staff will conduct a detailed analysis of the actions of surface forces, naval aviation, and coastal units as part of comprehensive combat training activities,' reported Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev.
-
In total, about 300 surface ships and boats, submarines and support vessels, up to 50 aircraft, more than 200 military and special hardware, over 20,000 military personnel and civilian personnel of units and formations were involved in the exercise. For several days, the ships' crews, the Naval Aviation and coastal units of the three fleets and Caspian Flotilla are to perform more than 300 combat exercises with practical use of weapons. This includes anti-aircraft missile firing and artillery firing at sea and aerial training targets.
-
As part of the drills conducted, the fleets and the Caspian Fleet authorities trained cooperation with other law enforcement agencies and federal executive authorities in organising training programmes for the defence of their home locations, suppression of illegal activities at sea, sea rescue, and other complex events.
-
The main goal of the exercise conducted under the general supervision of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy was to check the actions of the military administration bodies of the Navy at all levels, as well as the readiness of ships' crews, parts of naval aviation and coastal troops of the Russian Navy to fulfil their missions for their intended purpose.
