Dash and bodycam video shows Milwaukee freeway high speed chase and a pregnant woman being shot
Milwaukee police released bodycam video of a June 20 chase that ended in a shooting and a freeway closure on Interstate 43 lasting nearly seven hours.
The incident began when officers attempted a felony stop at N. 17th Street and W. Vliet Street. The vehicle was wanted in connection to two-armed robbery carjackings earlier that day.
The chase ended when the suspect's vehicle entered a construction lane on I-43 near W. Vienna Avenue and collided with a cement truck, blocking the path.
As officers approached, the driver reversed, hitting a squad car. An officer then fired into the vehicle, injuring an 18-year-old pregnant female and a 17-year-old male.
The injured suspects were transported to local hospitals. The pregnant woman’s unborn child did not survive.
All six suspects in the vehicle were arrested, and charges were issued by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office. The involved officer is on administrative duty.
