The1964Plan.org | AI Craze: The New Dot-Com Bubble? 🌐 What History Teaches Us About Tech Hype
Everyone's talking about AI this AI that You know like I use Word and I use to write documents and things and both of them have AI components They're always asking me do I want AI to rewrite this form I don't I never use it But you know it's everywhere right The thing is we don't really know what AI is yet No one's really There's a lot of public debate right Well it's all speculation right now Right no one does You know it could do this it might do that it might take over the world it may The guys who develop AI don't know where it's going I mean we just don't know But like all new technologies it's gotten real popular So I want you to think about the dot-com boom at the end of the 19 nineties remember There was groceries com and pets com and cars com and this com and that com and Stakes com and Toys com and Wheels com There's so many dot-coms And everybody was buying dot-com stocks And the market was going up like crazy!
And everybody was getting rich on paper Without the fundamentals That it just busted Right because they were counting clicks not profit Remember any one of you old enough to remember this No one talked about how much money these companies were making it's how many clicks they were getting on their website because no one really understood the internet yet It was in the very early stages And so like all new technologies there was a big blowout I'll give you another example The automobile industry at the turn of the last century when they replaced the buggies Today there's General Motors Ford Chevy In those days there was Studebaker and there was Packard and there was Duesenberg and there was There's Tucker and a whole bunch of Just like the dot-coms a whole bunch of car companies came up Most of them failed And what was left was what we see General Motors by the way was Pontiac and Chevrolet Pontiac's gone now And Oldsmobile which is gone now And Buick Those were all separate companies that ended up merged together into General Motors right So the point I'm making is all new technologies go this way Well now we have AI.
