Some more retro gaming goodness continues with Retro Revengers which was originally a Nintendo Switch title released for the Japanese market in July of 2022 and developed by the streaming group li otona-tachi.

In Retro Revengers you play various characters with comical super-powers bestowed by the Retro Goddess. There are five characters, and you play through a scene for each one battling a mini-boss at the conclusion of that scene. Your ultimate goal is to defeat the DOTA – Demon Overlord of Triple-A to save gaming from big budget and expensive mainstream titles!

Each character has their own special basic and powered attack and as previously stated some are very funny. And just so happens those special abilities are just what is needed for each level! This culminates in being able to bounce between characters and abilities to defeat DOTA!

The gameplay in this sides-scrolling platformer is fast, furious and can be challenging at points. There is no mid-level save and add to that limited lives, so be ready to replay certain sections over-and-over-and-over again!

Another high point of the game is the awesome soundtrack composed by Manami Matsumae, the composer of the iconic Mega Man game! The music adds to the comedic tone and is a true complement to the game as any good soundtrack should be.

I give Retro Revengers 8 out of 10.
