The motto is "With you"
The motto of this year's altar servers' pilgrimage is "With You" and is taken from the book of Isaiah. According to Cardinal Hollerich, this promise is intended to provide comfort and confidence and tell the pilgrims that God's closeness not only accompanies them, but also strengthens and supports them in all the challenges of everyday youthful life.
"Enjoying ice cream on the piazza"
The multi-day event offers the opportunity for exchange and dialog between the European pilgrimage groups. Auxiliary Bishop Johannes Wübbe, the German youth bishop, called on the young "Minis" to "look beyond their own church tower" during these days and to share their inspiring and infectious commitment as "joyful witnesses to the Gospel", but also to soak up the Roman atmosphere and enjoy "an ice cream in the piazza".
"This pilgrimage offers our altar servers the special opportunity to look beyond their own church tower and experience belonging to a worldwide community"

Project with lead time
Tobias Knell, one of the heads of the planning committee, explains the various phases of project planning with the different partners, but also emphasizes the value of being an altar server: "Altar servers don't need words. They are united by their service" - this facilitates cooperation and planning, as all partners are highly committed and volunteer.
