Within the diverse group of Anatolian Shepherds, the Kangal is perhaps the most famous. Named after the town of Kangal in Turkey’s Sivas Province, these dogs are celebrated for their exceptional guarding abilities. With a powerful build and an imposing presence, the Kangal is a living legend in the world of livestock guardian dogs (LGDs).

Anatolian Shepherds are known for their impressive size, often weighing over 100 pounds, with a commanding presence that deters predators. Their thick, double-layered coat protects them from the elements, while their keen senses and quick reflexes make them excellent sentinels.
