Tripping on Travel: Mansfield Hollow State Park, part 2, Mansfield, CT

We return in part 2 inside the second area of footage I recorded. I'm following a path through the woods toward the shoreline of the reservoir. And thus, I encounter a sign that informs the public they cannot swim in the water because it's a public water supply. Yet nothing prevents wildlife like geese, ducks, snakes and fish from using the public water supply. But, it is what it is. The beauty of this park is undeniable. And it struck me much more so as I reversed course in the woods heading away from that shoreline, like you will see in the next video.

Mansfield Hollow State Park basically traces back to an Army Corp of Engineers project built between 1949 and 1952. As explained by the Outdoor Project website, "the project was designed to substantially reduce flooding along the Quinebaug, Shetucket, and Thames rivers. The result is a recreational water body and a reservoir for local towns." And thus, Mansfield Hollow Dam, and Lake, were born. "Swimming is not allowed, but sailboats, canoes, and small powerboats are all welcomed on the lake."
