Olympics Opening Ceremony Drama - Grift Report

Organizers of the Paris Olympics apologized for a scene in the opening ceremony criticized as a parody of “The Last Supper.” The scene, featuring drag artists and dancers, drew criticism from the Catholic Church and Christian groups for mocking Christianity. Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps emphasized there was no intention to disrespect any religious group and aimed to celebrate community and tolerance. Director Thomas Jolly clarified that the inspiration was the Greek God Dionysus, not “The Last Supper.”
