Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — On July 2nd, 2024, just after 9:00 a.m., officers from the Oklahoma City Police Department were summoned to 2243 W. Eubanks St. regarding a man pointing a gun at another person inside the home. Officers encountered the suspect, 22-year-old Kavon Ragan, from across the street as he was on his front porch. Officers tried to speak with Ragan and de-escalate the situation. Ragan refused to follow the officers’ commands, continuing to go in and out of the home.

A short time later, Ragan began firing shots at the officers, ultimately wounding Sgt. Joshua Scott. Sgt. Scott was transported to an area hospital by another officer at the scene. Sergeant Scott underwent surgery and was later released. Officers learned Ragan had five other people in the home with him, three of whom were children. Ragan continued to randomly fire at police personnel and refused all opportunities to surrender peacefully. At approximately 11:47 AM, Ragan was shot and killed by an OKCPD officer. An entry team entered the home and found the other occupants unharmed.
