Putin warns the United States of Cold War-style missile crisis

Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the United States against deploying long-range missiles in Germany, stating that Russia would station similar missiles within striking distance of the West.

The U.S. plans to deploy these missiles in Germany from 2026, including SM-6, Tomahawk cruise missiles, and developmental hypersonic weapons.

During a speech in St. Petersburg on Russian Navy Day, Putin cautioned that such U.S. actions could provoke a Cold War-style missile crisis.

He emphasized that the flight time of these missiles to Russian targets would be approximately 10 minutes, potentially carrying nuclear warheads.

Putin pledged reciprocal measures in response to U.S. and allied actions in Europe and elsewhere, Reuters has reported.
