And to be completely precise (method of determination), it was in Lut that the highest value in the entire history of observations of +71°C was recorded using the method of monitoring the brightness temperature of the Earth's surface.

But this scorching temperature is not the only unique feature of the desert. Dasht-e Lut is full of giant rock formations, some of the highest sand dunes in the world, salt plains and karst sinkholes. The desert will amaze its conquerors with completely surreal rock formations and an unrealistically bright sky.

It is strongly recommended not to visit Dasht-e Lut in the summer. It is hot, very hot. However, it should be remembered that in winter and early spring the temperature at night drops to zero, while during the day it rises to +30°C. The maximum altitude in the Dasht-e Lut desert is 2 km. The southeast of the desert is covered with sand. Barchans and pyramidal dunes occupy about 10 thousand square kilometers of area. The height of sand formations in some places reaches 300 m. (The highest barchan is about 450 m.) Under the influence of winds (which blow here constantly) sandstone and clay rocks form bizarre, mushroom-like shapes, which are called yardangs. They can reach 80 meters. The tops of the yardangs are flat or rounded. They are separated from each other by depressions reaching hundreds of meters.
