Order of Worship

Theme: When God’s judgment falls upon a nation, that judgment will target and destroy the idols of that nation. That provides a golden opportunity to share the truth of God’s Word with those whose idols are destroyed.

“Smashing Idols”
31st In our series the Prophet Micah

I. Victory for Remnant of the Lord - Micah 5:9
* A. There will be a total conquest of all the enemies of our Lord Jesus Christ at His second Advent
* 1. He will rule for 1000 years in perfect peace and justice
* 2. The saints will rule and reign with Him
* B. But before that final battle in the valley of Jehoshaphat there will be many smaller battles as Christ’s kingdom advances 

II. Idols for Destruction - Micah 5:10-15 
* A. The idol of the military industrial complex - Psalm 20:7; 33:17
* 1. The greatest weapons of that day would prove useless in a battle against our Lord
* 2. The defenses, the walled cities with great gates and towers would fall at the hand of the Almighty
* B. The physical idols would also be cut off by our Lord
* 1. Occult practices of witchcraft and sorcery - Deut. 18:9-12
* 2. Divination and fortune tellers will be cut off
* 3. All carved images of idols would be destroyed
* C. The Idol of Immorality would be plucked up and destroyed
* 1. Fertility religion of Asherah & totems of the idol Ishtar
* a. Fornication & adultery were part of her “worship” with temple prostitutes
* b. Ishtar stated, “I am woman. I am man.”
* c. She claimed power to transform individuals as well as the very meaning of male and female
* d. Queen Jezebel brought this into Israel
* e. The early church struggled with this Jezebel teaching - Revelation 2:20-23
* 2. As with vengeance God destroyed the Idols of Judah, so He will destroy all the idols of our day
