Hot Sausage Subs Recipe
Ingredients:

4 hot Italian sausage links
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 bell peppers (any color), thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup marinara sauce
4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional: red pepper flakes for extra heat
Instructions:

Cook the Sausages:

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.
Add the sausage links and cook until browned on all sides (about 7-8 minutes).
Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Vegetables:

In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil if needed.
Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and slightly caramelized (about 10 minutes).
Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
Combine with Sauce:

Slice the cooked sausages into 1-inch pieces and return them to the skillet with the vegetables.
Add the marinara sauce and stir to combine.
Let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
Prepare the Subs:

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cut the hoagie rolls in half, but not all the way through, leaving them hinged.
Place the rolls on a baking sheet and fill each with the sausage and vegetable mixture.
Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top of each filled roll.
Bake:

Place the subs in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:

Remove the subs from the oven and let them cool for a minute before serving.
Optionally, you can serve with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
