"Scarlet Street" is an American film noir drama released in 1945, directed by Fritz Lang. The plot follows Christopher Cross, a middle-aged cashier and amateur painter, who becomes infatuated with Kitty March, a young woman he rescues from a street assault. However, Kitty is involved with Johnny Prince, a small-time crook, who manipulates her into exploiting Chris's infatuation for their own financial gain. As Chris's obsession with Kitty deepens, he becomes entangled in a web of deceit, betrayal, and ultimately, murder.
