July 25-29, 1988 - Five-Part Special Report on Billy Graham in the USSR

Anchor/reporter Ken Owen of WLOS Asheville, accompanied by photographer Charlie Woodward and Debra Furr Sluder, spent ten days in the Soviet Union. Billy Graham, who lived in nearby Montreat, North Carolina, was in what is now known as Russia to attend events commemorating the 1,000th anniversary of the Russian Orthodox Church.

These reports aired during the 6 p.m. newscasts on WLOS all week. An hour-long documentary also aired, and is available on this channel.
