Depression: There Is No “Why”!

When someone says they're feeling sad or they're feeling lonely or they're feeling unhappy, it's very natural to say to them, well, why is that? Because you want to find out more and to see if you can help.
But that really doesn't apply to depression. Depression doesn't have a why behind it. So if you say to someone, why are you depressed? It really makes them uncomfortable because they don't have a grasp of why they're feeling that way in the first place.
Instead, ask if they want to talk about it. Ask if there's something you can do to help them.
