Richard Vobes' Mysterious Black Poles

Richard Vobes is one of the most preposterous figures in the UK conspiracy theory scene. He hosts a daily show featuring some of the nation’s most bizarre nutters. And because he has to squeeze out one show every single day, he can’t afford to be too picky about the quality of his guests.

When challenged, Vobes likes to hide behind a “Just Asking Questions” or “Just Offering My Opinion” defence. He’d like to you to stop being mean to him by criticising him, even though he regularly hosts people like Gary Waterman, whose entire output consists of unhinged libels on other members of the conspiracy movement.

In other words, Vobes is a man with a big ego and a thin skin; hence it’s fun to poke just a bit of gentle fun in his direction.

In this week’s episode, the Bald Explorer is concerned about a series of black poles erected in his hometown of Worthing, on the South Coast of England. Enraged and suspicious, he turns to a “very expert” for help, and we get to see just how problematic any connection that person can be.
