How did all these detail gloss by me as a child?

It’s fast approaching the 100th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz. It’s not too surprising the allegory is and was more true to life than we imagine(d). Since WE DIDN’T PAY WITH OUR ATTENTION, we are now forced to pay with our hard earned money, otherwise known as our labor. For others, the stakes are even higher.

In the original story, the slippers were silver. So, not only was the gold taken (once the yellow brick road ended at the emerald city - green money replacing the gold standard), but that is why the wicked witch of the west wanted the sliver slippers back. I wonder why they changed it to Ruby red slippers. Hmmm 🤔, what does that color symbolize? What is so important that witch would wanted red slippers?

As far as I can tell, we are all stuck in Oz. The shiny stuff, the obsession to be rich, the distraction of all the Babylon entertainment makes going back to Kansas that much more difficult. In the end, it’s as simple as pouring water over the witch and saying, “there’s no place like home.”
