Elves in fantasy have changed quite a bit over the years, from the mysterious creatures in Nordic legends, to the mischievous pranksters who trick farmers, and are tricked themselves. Finally, Grandpa Tolkien elevated the elves to the height we see them today, although he had some help from Dungeons and Dragons
