Calls for Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle's resignation are intensifying following revelations about her close ties to the Biden family and other political figures. These concerns emerged after a failed assassination attempt on former President Trump at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, prompting critics to scrutinize Cheatle's connections and question her suitability for the role.

In a September 21, 2022 interview with "Good Morning America," Cheatle mentioned her long-standing relationship with the Biden family before her appointment as Secret Service Director, raising questions about her impartiality.

The New York Post has demanded Cheatle's resignation or termination, describing the Secret Service's handling of the Trump rally incident as the "most stunning failure in decades." DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas echoed these concerns, calling the security lapse a "failure" and emphasizing the unacceptability of such breaches.

The New York Post editorial team criticized Cheatle for refusing to accept blame, instead shifting responsibility onto local police for not securing a critical rooftop. They argued that rural Pennsylvania officers should not be expected to compensate for the failures of professional agents tasked with protecting a former president.

Cheatle is scheduled to testify before Congress about the security breakdown at Trump's rally, though her position as director remains in jeopardy. Her appointment is partly attributed to First Lady Jill Biden, who has maintained a close relationship with Cheatle since Joe Biden's vice-presidency, and to Anthony "Rasputin" Bernal, who advocated for Cheatle's leadership and is known for promoting diversity within the Secret Service.

The New York Post concluded that under Cheatle's leadership, the agency has failed in its duties, narrowly avoiding a national crisis. The editorial team asserts that Cheatle should already be removed from her position.
