The Drifter (1944)

"The Drifter" is an American Western film released in 1944, directed by Sam Newfield. The plot follows two characters, both played by Buster Crabbe: Billy Carson, a good-hearted cowboy, and "Drifter" Davis, a wanted bank robber. Due to their identical appearance, Billy is mistakenly arrested for Drifter's crimes. Upon his release, Billy decides to impersonate Drifter to infiltrate his gang and foil their next heist. Meanwhile, Billy's friend, Fuzzy Q. Jones (Al St. John), adds to the confusion by also mistaking Billy for Drifter. The film combines action, comedy, and mistaken identity tropes for an entertaining Western experience.
