The Front Page (1931)
"The Front Page" is an American pre-Code screwball comedy film released in 1931, directed by Lewis Milestone. The plot revolves around Hildy Johnson, a star reporter for a Chicago newspaper, who is on the verge of quitting his job to get married and move to New York. However, his editor, Walter Burns, schemes to keep him on the job by luring him into covering one last sensational story: the impending execution of an escaped convict. The film stars Adolphe Menjou as Walter Burns and Pat O'Brien as Hildy Johnson.
