Aisne-Marne American Military Cemetery

Most of these brave souls fought in the vicinity and Marne Valley during the tumultuous summer of 1918. The memorial chapel, adorned with sculptured and stained-glass details of wartime, bears witness to their sacrifice, with 1,060 names of the missing inscribed on its interior wall. Rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. Despite enduring damage during World War II, including a haunting shell hole left unrepaired as a poignant reminder, the chapel stands tall as a symbol of resilience. Belleau Wood, adjacent to the cemetery, holds the echoes of history, with a monument commemorating the valor of the U.S. Marines who bravely captured much of the ground in 1918.
