Oise-Aisne American Military Cemetery

Join us on a solemn journey to the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery and Memorial in France, where 6,013 American war dead rest, most of whom perished in the vicinity during the intense battles of 1918 in World War I. As we explore the 36.5-acre site, we witness the rows of headstones, rising in a gentle slope towards the memorial at the far end, a poignant reminder of sacrifice and valor. The burial area, divided into four plots by serene pathways lined with trees and beds of roses, leads to a circular plaza and a solemn flagpole. The memorial, adorned with a curving colonnade and built of rose-colored sandstone, houses a chapel and a map room. Inside, the chapel's altar of carved stone stands as a symbol of faith and remembrance, while the Walls of the Missing bear the names of 241 soldiers, forever honored. Rosettes mark the names of those who have since been recovered and identified. In the map room, an engraved wall map portrays the military operations of 1918, offering insight into the historic significance of this sacred place.
