Welcome to the Shuv Show. I’m your host Christene Jackman.
Tonight’s topic is concerning what many are discussing: the Ashbury Revival. I was not going to weigh in on it, figuring, time will tell if this is of God. If it is, then there will be fruit, lasting fruit.

But then I watched a Tucker Carlson interview on TV and heard something very concerning.
Regarding the seeming revival, Tucker Carlson asked Alison, student body president, Ashbury University, “What is this, do you think?”
Alison enthused: “A theme, or a bible verse we all have been sharing with each other is Habakkuk 1, and the Lord says, ‘Look at the nations and watch, for I’m doing something in your day that you wouldn’t believe if you were told.’ And it’s happening and we can hardly believe it!” All smiles.

Well, I couldn’t hardly believe: she and her cohort’s choice of a theme verse for this event. And from what I’ve seen, no one else has caught this. What’s wrong with her using this verse? They have hacked a single verse from Habakkuk chapter 1, wrenching it totally out of context, and using it as if it were a good thing. She was quoting Habakkuk 1:5,

"Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because [I am] doing something in your days-- You would not believe if you were told.”

Sounds good, huh? Uh…but, now look at the very next verse, verse 6:

"For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans, That fierce and impetuous people Who march throughout the earth To seize dwelling places which are not theirs.”

Habakkuk chapter 1 is actually all about God pronouncing judgment because of lack of repentance, as evidenced by verse 12:

“You, YHVH, have appointed them [the Chaldeans] to judge; And You, O Rock, have established them to correct.”

Habak-kuk’ is prophesying, during the reign of Josiah, the impending invasion by the Babylonians, who will besiege, destroy and carry away House of Judah captive to Babylon. It’s about: The red line has been crossed. Time’s almost up. See Habakkuk 2:2-3,

“Then YHVH answered me and said, ‘Record the vision And inscribe [it] on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay.

King Josiah repented and the judgment was delayed. Read 2 Kings 22. Amazing. Oh, that we had a president and leaders like King Josiah.

So, three things alarm me regarding this Ashbury thing . . . "
