EXCERPT: "Welcome to the Shuv Show. I'm your host, Christene Jackman.
Tonight, let's examine something Believers can be reluctant to discuss: times when your relationship with God feels distant. Why is this? When I was growing up, you were generally advised, usually by example, rather than words, to aways present a perfect Christian face to others. To express honest feelings of confusion, frustration, hurt, "where was God?" type of questions, characterized you as deficient spiritually. A lesser Believer. "How are you doing?" "Fine" was the automatic reply.

Well, I'm going to be transparent with you. I'm a Believer, far from perfect, ever in process, with the Lord as my Teacher/Healer. My newest song addresses this issue of when God feels distant and I'll premiere it for you at the end of this Shuv Show. Sung in English, it is titled, "Lost Without You." Personal and honest, it's a song from my heart. I hope it helps you, also, to open again meaningful dialogue with your Creator.

Though it's great to surround yourself with uplifting worship music, of course, it's a mistake to think that all spiritual songs must be happy, happy, joy, joy. That's not Biblical. Mishlei/Proverbs 25:20 reveals,

Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on soda, is one who sings songs to a troubled heart.

Glib, happy songs, without first addressing the issue of a downcast heart, offer a symphony designed to keep hiding the hurt. Go read the Psalms. You'll find the whole range of emotions. It's raw. And it's real. You'll find David confronting what's troubling him, ending with an appeal to the Most High and new resolve to trust as he waits out the storm. Transparency is the melody of David's art . . . "
