Tonight's discussion is entitled: "Tare Talk." T.A.R.E. Tare.

What is a tare?
It's a plant called Darnel (L. te-mul-entum, Latin for "drunk") Dziz-an'-ee-on in the Greek. Also known as: Tares, Poison ryegrass. False Grain. A noxious plant, tares also rob the authentic wheat plant of nutrition and vitality, growing an extensive root system. Darnel mimics wheat in appearance until they both begin to fruit. That'll preach! Darnel seeds stowaway on the host plant during harvesting, ensuring their repropagation the following season.

According to the Britannica Dictionary: "The plant is often infected with a poisonous fungus (Neotyphodium species) that can be dangerous to grazing animals." If humans consume darnel seeds, they feel dizzy, wobbly and queasy, with vision and speech impairment.

In literary texts, darnel is exhibited as a symbol of subversion. In the Bible, it appears in Messiah Yeshua's “parable of the tares,” in Matisyahu / Matthew 13:24-30
Yeshua presented another parable to them, saying, "The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed tares [dziz-an'-ee-on – darnel] among the wheat, and went away. But when the wheat sprouted and bore grain, then the tares became evident also. The servants of the landowner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' And he said to them, 'An enemy has done this!' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us, then, to go and gather them up?' But he said, 'No; for while you are gathering up the tares, you may uproot the wheat with them. 'Allow both to grow together until the harvest; and in the time of the harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather up the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them up; but gather the wheat into my barn."'"

The Adversary of our souls may work to sow tares among us, but our Master knows the location of each and every one of them. You will know them when they begin to bear fruit. This is especially evident when "mimic weeds" or wolves in sheep's clothing, join a congregation and slyly begin to insert false doctrine into conversations and teaching platforms. They will often position themselves for power seats, and try to push out those who hold to the Biblical Covenant. I've seen this happen myself. Such a painful experience. We saw it coming, we confronted Biblically, but in the end the wolves won and the sheep were scattered. Unfortunately, many of the sheep were not grounded enough in Torah to recognize the veering off the Path of HaShem. Many were not willing to listen to solid doctrine. The fruit: a wounded people, a scattering, sheep left bloodied . . . "
