U.S. journalist group 'horrified' after Gershkovich sentencing

The National Press Club said it was 'horrified' after a Russian court found U.S. reporter Evan Gershkovich guilty of espionage on Friday (July 19) and sentenced him to 16 years in a maximum security penal colony in what his employer, the Wall Street Journal, called "a disgraceful sham conviction."
