Do You Need to Prime Rocks for Acrylic Painting?

Do you need to prime rocks for acrylic paints? I tried painting on primed vs unprimed stones and left them outside for 3 months to see, if there's a difference between the primed and unprimed ones. Did the acrylic paint crack or chip away? Let's see the results.
