Man Charged in 2022 Road Rage Shooting of 3-Year-Old Boy

In a recent press conference, police announced that Giovanni Hernandez, 32, has been charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder and attempted murder, in connection with the 2022 road rage shooting that resulted in the death of 3-year-old Mateo Zastro. Mateo was in the car with his three siblings when he was shot in the head during a road rage incident in September 2022. According to the Chicago Police Department (CPD), the child's mother attempted to flee from the other vehicle, but was tracked down and fired upon. A nearby home was riddled with bullets from the attack. Hernandez's arrest was made possible by DNA evidence, witness testimony, and thorough police work.
