Natural sugar better than added sugar??

I always hear people giving health advice and saying “don’t worry, it’s natural sugars they are healthy”.

Is this really true though?

When food is broken down in our body and absorbed, the glucose/fructose molecules will look exactly the same whether they come from a whole food or an ultra processed one.

Our body will treat it exactly the same.

It doesn’t say “oh this comes from whole foods so I’ll use this differently”.

In your body a glucose molecule is a glucose molecule regardless of where it comes from.

The ACTUAL difference is not the sugar, it is what it comes WITH.

A whole food will come with at least some vitamins, nutrients and minerals that can benefit your body.

An ultra processed food comes with seed oils, additives and other toxic chemicals you don’t want in your body.

So yes, if you want sugar in your diet, getting it from whole food sources is better for you.

But NOT because the sugar is “healthy” or different in anyway, but because of what the sugar is accompanied by.
