In Dubuque, Iowa, a tragic incident led to the arrest of 28-year-old Tyler Dazey, who was charged with first-degree murder after the discovery of his mother and the family dog deceased in their home. Police responded to a call on Abacus Street, finding 46-year-old Jennifer Dazey and the dog tragically killed. Tyler Dazey, found naked in his room, was later arrested. He faces charges including first-degree murder and animal abuse causing death. During the investigation, Jennifer Dazey was found in her bedroom with severe lacerations and severed fingers, while the family dog was discovered with a significant head injury on the living room sofa. Tyler confessed to owning a hatchet stored in his room and made statements about his mother's alleged involvement in witchcraft. Initially deemed incompetent to stand trial, Tyler Daisy's status was later reversed, and he is now set to stand trial for the murder of his mother and the animal abuse. He has opted out of attending the trial.
Jury selection for his trial began on July 9, 2024.
