These classes are conducted with military personnel of the communications unit of the combined arms army of the Central Military District, departing for the zone of a special military operation (SVO) and are included in the training course for countering unmanned aerial vehicles.

Training is carried out using the methods of sports clay shooting and training hunters using shotguns. Shooting is carried out from smooth-bore shotguns Saiga, Vepr, MP-153 and other 12-gauge shotguns using shot cartridges at flying clay pigeon targets. Targets are thrown into the air using special throwing machines and if a shot hits a flying target, it breaks.

In addition to visual target detection, military personnel learn to navigate by the sound of a flying drone, instant reaction to it and quick reloading of a set of ammunition.

“Training smooth-bore gunners to destroy various types of drones is an important stage in the training of military signalmen before leaving for the Northern Military District. This type of target shooting requires not only precision and skill, but also the ability to quickly respond to changing conditions. This training program will allow our military personnel to effectively counter the threat posed by drones in modern combat conditions,” said the head of the shooting, Major Nikolai Kochetkov.
