Combating Malnutrition and Metabolic Illnesses to Enable Sustainable Development Dr. Peter .J. Ballerstedt. The world needs ruminant nutrition, for the health and development of humans, countries, and the environment.
Most people don't understand the connection of malnutrition, obesity, and disease. Especially in West, you don't normally associate obesity with malnutrition. But you can be over fed, and malnourished, which leads to metabolic health disorders.
Dr Ballerstedt is an educator in Forage and ruminant animal agriculture. Soil health. Animal source food in human health and development. Sustainable food systems from production through consumption
Peter Ballerstedt (also known as “Don Pedro, Sodfather of the Ruminati”) earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of Georgia and his doctorate at the University of Kentucky. He was the forage extension specialist at Oregon State University from 1986 to 1992 and worked in the forage seed industry from 2011 until 2023. He is a member of several national and international scientific societies, participates in related global initiatives, and is the current President of the American Forage and Grassland Council.
