Archeologists have unearthed a remarkably well-preserved marble statue in a sewer in Heraclea Sintica, an ancient city located in modern-day Bulgaria. It is initially estimated to date back to the 2nd century AD. Dr. Lyudmil Vagalinski, who leads the archaeological team, believes the statue probably represents the ancient Greek god Hermes. Crafted from a single block of marble, the sculpture is likely a Roman copy of an ancient Greek original.
