A father and daughter from Green Bay, Wisconsin, tragically died after running out of water during a hike at Canyonlands National Park in Utah.

The unidentified 52-year-old father and his 23-year-old daughter were found dead by park rangers and Bureau of Land Management members on Friday.

They were hiking the challenging Syncline Loop Trail in the Island in the Sky district, where temperatures exceeded 100°F.

A 911 text alerted San Juan County Dispatch to the situation, but the search team arrived too late. The victims’ identities have not been released.

The National Park Service advises visitors to carry plenty of water and avoid strenuous activities during midday heat, the Daily Mail reported.
