I had a disk drive on it's way out.

I had a disk drive that was on it's way out, it was causing my server to slow down. Typically when a hard drive is on it's way out you will see issues with windows where it will start off in disk repair mode or check disk mode then start into windows. In my case the drive would start, read a little and write a little then stop then reset itself and do the same thing again.

This caused the backup process in my anti cloud to take 16 hours. No bueno. I removed it and got the duration reduced to 9 hours. If you have a server in your house like I have then you know it's common for disk drives to go out. The difference between a mechanical disk and an solid state disk is you can kind of hear when the impending doom is about to take place.

When a solid state disk dies, it just dies.
